Week Two Spring 2024

Over the last week there has been a lot of moving in, research, and reclaim! I am so excited to have a studio space to call my own. It allows me to feel at home and decompress which lets the ideas flow much easier! I got some bins and other items to organize my tools and paperwork. I am embracing the bright and colorful to try and enhance my experience while I work.

As for research I checked out a stack of books from the library and have been browsing through them to try and build some of my old ideas and create new ones. I am interested in exploring how not only the form of my work can be impactful but also how i can begin to incorporate surface elements and designs into my work as well. Libraries are an integral part of hands on research for me, handling a physical book allows me to feel more connected to the words and images im seeing which translate easier into new ideas for me to epxlore!

I threw a few forms this week and plan next week to expand my dip into the realm of thrown vessels by modifying them out of the round. I am very fond of centered thrown pieces however I am trying to expand my horizons by trying new techniques and seeing where this will lead me.
