Week 9 Spring 2024

Mixing glazes and test firings this week. I ran out of my first test batch of glaze so I decided to make a larger batch of the black and blue crystalline so that I would be able to glaze more and larger pieces to get a feel of how the glaze reacts on different forms and how it interacts with the lining glaze of vessels.

I also applied some catchers to the bottoms of the cups before glazing because this glaze still has a tendency to run a good bit and I wanted it to completely cover the foot of the cup.

From these firings, I got closer to what I wanted to achieve but maybe I still need to go a bit thicker on the top.
