This week was filled with experimentation and decisions on how to move forward in the semester with goals that were attainable for me to reach and motivating to keep me energized about the work I am making. Later on in the week I decided to move more towards crystalline glazing as it is something that has sparked my interest for a while now and this semester feels like a good way to hone in on this skill and glaze type and see how far I can push it.

After making some bowls and fun forms I decided to try and mimic some common crystalline glaze shapes and see how it felt to throw these forms as they are something i've never done before. I enjoyed exploring these shapes and will be trimming them in the coming days to get them as smooth and curved as I can and then they will be off to bisque!

This week I also created a bare swamp cypress tree model to get my creative juices flowing and just make. I had a thought about making them large in scale that could theoretically begin to create an environment but I think I will save this idea for another time and place. It did allow me to mold the clay in a way that is much different from throwing on the wheel however which was a nice change of pace for me lately.

See you next week!
