NCECA week!! I was able to go to NCECA this week which gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of artists from different backgrounds and discuss with them their concepts and processes as well as attend presentations that were beneficial to my learning endeavor and BFA show planning. I also had the opportunity to participate in the Clay Olympics held by VISARTS in Richmond, Virginia, and placed 1st. It was a very fun opportunity to be able to compete with fellow artists in fun throwing competitions and I was really excited to place first and be able to take a trophy home with me to put in my studio!

It was nerve-wracking to throw in front of the crowd of people who gathered to watch but it was a really good experience that I'm grateful to have had!

I was also able to enter one of my cups into the cup sale that NCECA holds every year!

There was a presenter talking about crystalline glaze and while she was focused on cone 6 I still found her talk compelling and she gave us a recipie that I may be able to modify to work for my clay at cone 10!

I also watched a presentation on a technique of building with coil "belts" to construct a triangle jar and plan to try this when I get back into the studio!

Check back next week for more!
