This week has been a whirlwind of art, information, and weather events. Due to the craziness of the end of this week, I will be updating this post with more details and images when I can put it all into words. Thank you for your patience.
Update :
I have been working on form this week and trying to narrow down my ideas for my BFA show as it is coming up in early December. I was looking to find what interested me in these corsets and how the shape of them could inform my concept and portray the correct message. I created a few different corset forms this week and am making work to fill a kiln in the coming weeks.

I spent time pondering how these forms would function in the gallery, on a body form, hanging, on the wall, or propped up on a pedestal. Ultimately I think having them on the body form that replicates my measurements speaks to the concept that these are forms and perceptions that I myself deal with and while it is a general experience for women I am predominantly talking about my first-hand interaction with said perceptions. How they will be installed was another consideration for me this week as I am coming close to my 6-week review and these are points I would like to be able to discuss during that meeting. Clemson homecoming is this week and all of the students in our college were asked to give a piece to add to the Habitat for Humanity build that Clemson does on Bowman Field for this event. Faculty members from the college will ultimately decide on the piece to be given and hopefully we hear the news of who's artwork was selected soon!

I ran a few glaze tests however due to the impacts of Hurricane Helene some of my making was cut short on Friday.

My heart goes out to all of those in the art communities in these affected areas as well as all of the communities as a whole. I have first-hand experience of losing my home to a hurricane more than once and it is not something I would ever wish anyone to go through. I lost my shed but we have our home and our lives and for that I could not be more grateful.

The original date for my 6 week review was Friday of next week however due to the impact of the storms that date has been moved to the following Friday which only allows me to be more prepared and come with more questions!
See yall next week :)
