Hello again! It is the first week of my last semester at Clemson University, at the end of the semester I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. I am excited to be pursuing crystalline glaze again this semester, reimagined from the vessels I was making last semester to a new pursuit of corsets and how they relate to my life and the story I want to tell. I have spent the last week preparing for the semester and getting all of my ducks in a row. I sewed a dress form representative of my body to assist in the production of the corsets.

The form I am using is 13% larger than my body due to the 13% shrinkage rate of the porcelain I am using. I have sketched a few ideas of how I want to move forward with this idea and have begun creating forms to fire with crystalline glaze.

I am excited to explore how adornments can carry on the conversation I have been having with myself and my research. I plan to make not only corsets but other physical adornments that convey my concept. I look forward to an extremely productive semester that will prepare me for life after I graduate.

I will continue to update this blog as I move through the semester and create my show. I am excited to look back on these posts and see how this concept develops over the next few months.

The beginning of a waist piece.

Figuring out surface decorations.

Next, I will start to figure out how this can be worn!

See you next time :)
